Bacon - The Game

Ah, yes! Cured bacon is one of the most delicious foods a tongue can enjoy. Sorry, vegans, it's the truth. Bacon is delicious by itself, and we often use it to garnish fried eggs, burgers, or any other meaty dish for that matter. However, few have explored the possibility of putting bacon on everything. After all, if it is so good by itself, and enhances everything it touches, then why wouldn't we?

Bacon - The Game is an experimental art-as-a-game, in which the player can draw visual inspiration on the multiple applications of fried bacon. Besides the authentic visuals, the experience is enhanced further by having accurate physics dictating the way in which the piece of bacon interacts with the lucky recipient.

But as it goes, the process of preparation is as important as the product itself. Anybody who's visited an Italian Pizza place knows that seeing the raw dough being spun around by hairy arms is half the fun. The bacon in 'Bacon' is also noticeably raw. We know this because it acts too bendy, and tends to slide off, which denotes that its surface is still composed of fat in its natural form, instead of charr and sticky oil.

But similar to the Italian dough act, the player will use a hot pan to throw the raw piece of bacon in the air, then safely onto the main course. However, solely because of your ineptitude, this daring act of kitchen artistry will often end in failure. But here's where we notice the optimistic tone of this piece of art, which is two-fold: There's always enough bacon, and the oil is always at a perfect temperature.

Final Thoughts

In essence, Bacon - The Game is one of the most impressive mobile games I've played this year. It is bold, it is engaging, and I think that it would be a crime against Humanity if it didn't get installed in a (((modern art))) gallery!
